Episcopal Church Women
Episcopal Church Women
Verna Dozier, theologian and Biblical scholar, said, “Don’t tell me what you believe; tell me what difference it makes that you believe.” The National Board of Episcopal Church Women recognized the importance of this statement and has consequently called every Episcopal woman into action to make a difference. This is something women do effectively as individuals, but think of the difference that we can make when we come together to do so. What are the women in your congregation doing to make a difference? Think of the lives that can be touched in fellowship, with spiritual growth and through outreach. Are these opportunities being offered in an organized and consistent way in your church?
The St. Stephen’s ECW group conducts various outreach and fundraising activities throughout the year, such as bake sales, rummage sale, and knitting sales. ECW supports our weekly coffee hour following each Sunday service.

Altar Guild & Flower Guild
Altar Guild & Flower Guild
Liturgy begins and ends with the work of the Altar Guild. To care for the sacred vessels, the bread and the wine, the fair linens and hangings and the candles and torches used for worship in the Sanctuary is far more than a task, it is a true ministry. We are told that all things must be done "properly and in good order." It is the work of the Altar Guild that makes it possible to do so. The contribution of each Altar Guild member is important; together those contributions are a devotion to the greater glory of God. The thanks of all the parish family of St. Stephen’s Church are given for the devotion and dedication of our Altar Guild.
The Flower Guild administers flower arrangements for the Church. A signup list is found on the door of the kitchen and is posted in the documents section of this web site.

Stewardship & Giving
Stewardship & Giving
Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God. The tradition of giving back to God and to the church comes from the Biblical practice of “tithing,” which means to give back a tenth of our earnings to God (Numbers 18:26). The Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church; it’s also about contributing time and talents, and volunteering for ministry and mission. It’s about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity.

Bible Study
Bible Study
Our Wednesday evening telephone conference call Bible study sessions meet 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. We take Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Summer breaks. You simply dial the phone number and you are immediately connected to the conference call.
Once it becomes possible for us to meet in person again, we will continue with a hybrid study by continuing the telephone conference calls with in person study so people who find themselves limited by distance or darkness will continue to be able to participate. It also allows people to choose what works best for them and their schedule.
We will complete our current study of The Acts of the Apostles very soon and begin new books of the Bible. This gives you a wonderful opportunity to begin or resume helpful Bible study reading God's Holy Word, reflecting upon it, discussing it, and applying it to our lives. Bible study is essential to spiritual growth and becoming Christ like so we are living lives that glorify and please God. You will additionally enjoy the warm fellowship of the study group.
I project that we will begin our study of the Letters of Peter, John, and Jude, 7:00 pm, Wednesday evening, September 21st, 2020. I strongly encourage you to join with us in the study sessions -- Please let me know that you will.
As a study guide, we will be using N.T. Wright's plain language commentary, The Early Christian Letters for Everyone: James, John, and Judah. You can order the commentary (paperback, $14.79; Kindle, $9.99; or large print. $15.94; plus any shipping cost or sales taxes) from Amazon by clicking here. Of course you can purchase the commentary from other sources as you prefer. Order soon so you will have it in hand to prepare for each session.
Please contact me with any questions that you may have.
I hope and pray that you will join us -- God Bless! In Jesus;s Love, Ben +
